This is a rant.
A weird thing happens in our world that drives me nuts:
Newbies who talk a big game like they’ve already won it.
This drives me nuts for 100 different reasons but mostly because I watch them talk their chances of success right into the toilet.
This sucks because I am in the business of not wanting that to happen to people.
I don’t like it.
If you are new to the game of business and marketing and you got no results yet: consider not talking or giving advice.
It’s for your own good the only thing out of your mouth are questions.
The rest is just bullshit and morning breath.
You don’t know what you don’t know.
If newbies moved through life as fast as their mouths did, they’d win the olympics.
At some point, you gotta produce something of value.
This is the biggest problem in this industry – people not taking action.
Even worse is talking a big game about it.
It’s a disease.
By talking a big game, you may never find success.
By talking a big game, you get to feel the satisfaction in advance without having to work for it.
You borrow happy chemicals from your future in order to feel good now, mortgaging tomorrow’s success to feed your ego today.
It’s a cheat code to feel significant even though you don’t deserve it.
Don’t talk about what you are gonna do, talk about what you ARE doing.
Having a goal is admirable, you should dare to dream.
It’s a good first step.
But acting like you are some gangster hustler and borrowing cockiness from your so-called
Future results is delusional.
Being cocky without action or results to back it up just makes you look crazy.
Everyone talks like they are about to do something, yet nobody DOES anything.
I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do that.
I could do this, I could do that.
But they can’t.
They actually can’t.
Because they haven’t built up the daily habits to be able to pull it off.
The consistency isn’t there so all they can do is grunt and squeeze their willpower for a few days until they give up… giving up usually comes in the form of switching ideas.
This is done to avoid personal responsibility and to protect the ego and pride from damage – to keep alive the delusional self image they have created for themselves.
It’s not that you couldn’t go out and close a client… take control and make it happen. You know how to!…
You just won’t.
You’ll choose not to instead.
Sure, you coulddddddd, but you probably won’t.
Prove it cunt!
People talk and nothing happens.
It’s just a bunch of yapping.
A bunch of wanna be rappers sitting in a circle freestyling about the rich life while barely being able to afford a box of pop tarts (mmm, s’mores flavor)
Talking about overachieving while in overdraft.
Talking more than listening.
Spewing out instead of soaking in.
The secret reason he can’t listen is because he’s afraid to look stupid around the community.
In a nutshell, he is afraid to show his (low status) cards to the the room
Ok, first thing… the cards are fucking transparent.
You ain’t fooling anybody.
Unless you are Jeffrey Dahmer level sociopathic, nobody believes the front you put on anyway.
It actually makes shit worse.
Remember this rule for the rest of your life: The self is always coming through.
This means you never want to act above your pay grade because the self is coming through.
Your ignorance and ineptitude is on display no matter how you try to hide it. The more you try to hide it, the more you repel people. The more you try to hide it, the more you build a persona or mask of someone who knows what’s up.
This is the beginning of delusion.
Because you can no longer listen to people around you.
Ever met someone who should shut the fuck up and absorb but instead is hellbent on proving themselves instead? And if you are real with them, they think you are being an asshole?
The cheat code to becoming successful is to listen and absorb. And not try to be more than you are. And not try to show off your knowledge.
Trying to prove yourself has the opposite effect on the person you are trying to get validation from.
In the words of Don Draper, “Stop talking and make something of yourself.”
The biggest irony and tragedy of this entire rant is the motherfuckers who do this never think it’s them.
So if you are new, statistically speaking, it’s probably you.
Tai Lopez said that when two people are in a room talking to each other, the person listening to the other talk will leave the room smarter, while the one who talked the entire time leaves the room the same way they came in.
If you are new, be a sponge. Then quietly try shit out and get results. Then yap all you want.
Don’t try and prove you are good before you are because you’ll never fool anyone worth fooling and you rob yourself of your own success.
